For a traditional French polish or
modern spray finish come to
The Restoration Workshop
You may not require anything as specialised as French polishing for your item. At The Restoration Workshop we can offer you the very best in modern spray applied finishes ranging from clear lacquer to painted finishes of any colour from a British standard colour chart ( e.g. Dulux ,Crown or Farrow and Ball paint chart ).
We can apply all these finishes in a range of sheen levels from dead matt to high gloss and anything in-between. Take a look at our Facebook page to see examples and contact us to discuss your individual requirements.
Here at The Restoration Workshop of Stoney Stanton near Leicester we’re specialists in the application of traditional French polish, oil and wax finishes. We work only to the highest standards, ranging from restoring old worn finishes to completely re-polishing items whilst attempting to keep the old look and colour of the polish.
Wherever possible we aim to use traditional materials and methods during the colouring process prior to French polishing your item.
It may be that your existing woodwork is fairly sound, but would benefit from a 'clean and revive' treatment, whereby the surfaces are washed down and a film of French polish is applied. Or for surfaces that have degraded to the point where they may need more attention, the full ‘strip and re-polish' process may be more appropriate. This entails the surfaces being stripped back to bare timber, bleached if necessary (to remove any stains that might have penetrated the wood) and then a new finish applied. The colour and degree of gloss/matt can be adjusted to conform to your requirements. Contact us to discuss your piece.
